Tips for Removing
GREASY STAINS

We sell two bottled spotters that can help to remove oil & grease. One is called "Dissolve Away" and another called "Ultra." Check out our "Bottled Chemicals & Spotters" by clicking here.

TIPS FOR REMOVING GREASY STAINS: On washable materials such stains may, or may not, be removed. You will save yourself trouble if you pretreat them first by rubbing in a grease solvent (liquid cleaning fluid) or detergent. Often, however, a grease solvent will be needed. Let the fabric dry and sponge it repeatedly if necessary. Fabrics with special finishes often tend to hold greasy stains and persistent effort is required to remove them.

If a yellow stain remains after the solvent has been used on old or heat-set stains, use a chlorine bleach, or hydrogen peroxide. On materials for which it is safe, the bleach* is usually the most effective.

Sponge nonwashable materials repeatedly with cleaning fluid, allowing them to dry between applications, or by carefully using an absorbent cloth. Return to Spot Removal Guide

*NOTE: Some products like hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, bleach or alcohol can actually bleach or change the color in some fabrics. Before using any chemical read the WARNING notice below and proceed with caution.
WARNING: Before making any attempts to remove spots, always test fabric for colorfastness first by applying a small amount of the cleaning solution or chemical on a hidden or unnoticeable area. The tips listed here are not guaranteed to work with every carpet or upholstered item. When using any chemical or liquid on fabric you should PROCEED WITH CAUTION. If you are unsure as to how your carpet or upholstery might be affected you should call a professional cleaning technician in your area.
